- First get the approval of your pastor and church council to explore the possibility of building a columbarium onsite.
- Ask the council to distribute a letter to all church members in the weekly bulletin and online. This letter should gage the interest among the church members. The letter should also ask what percentage of church members would like a single niche (1 urn) or a double niche (2 urns). Finally, the inquiry letter should ask for volunteers to join the Columbarium Committee.
Why does a church need a columbarium committee?
The committee will investigate and determine the following:
- Hiring a local contractor or landscape architect to determine the most suitable location at the church to build the columbarium. Interior vs. exterior installations have different requirements. Everest Columbarium niche is manufactured from a structural resin which is strong, lightweight, and weather resistant. It performs beautifully in both interior and exterior installations.
- The contractor or architect can import the Everest columbarium CAD file with our niche specifications and determine how many niches could fit in the space available. A columbarium plan could be rendered at this point.
- Pricing for the entire columbarium or sections can be requested from vendors to determine a budget. Everest Columbarium can quote the entire plan or sections.
- The committee will present the information it has gathered to the church council and pastor with recommendations.
