  1. What is a columbarium? A columbarium is a small mausoleum that houses urns instead of caskets. It contains a number of openings, or niches, and each niche has an urn that holds the cremains of an individual.
  2. What is the difference between a single and double niche? A single niche contains one urn for the cremains of one individual.  A double niche contains two urns for the cremains of two individuals.
  3. Where is columbarium installed? They are often installed at churches, cemeteries, universities and retirement communities.
  4. Why would you want to install a columbarium? Columbarium serve to honor and memorialize the deceased. Columbarium make effective use of space, and can hold single or double urns. Columbarium interment is often more affordable than traditional in-ground burial. Columbarium can be personalized to the wishes of the deceased as well as his or her surviving family.
  5. How do you design a columbarium? Everest provides unlimited columbarium niche design options for Interior or Exterior Columbarium based on the space available using our CAD file.
  6. What shape does the columbarium have?  Everest niches can be used in Circular Columbarium, Angled Columbarium, Columbarium Walls, and Surface Mount Columbarium. Our interlocking columbarium niche will effortlessly integrate into any Columbarium Design.
  7. How many niches are needed to start a columbarium? Our system will work with as few as 10 niches.
  8. How do you know how many niches to order? This answer depends on the church size or the inurnment needs of the community.  Columbarium projects are often done in stages based on planning and funding.  Future configurations of niches can always be installed.
  9. How long does it take to manufacture the niches? It takes approximately 10 weeks to manufacture the niches.
  10. Is heavy equipment such as cranes or forklifts required for installation? No, Everest lightweight engineered resin niche requires a smaller foundation than a concrete or steel columbarium, reducing foundation cost. We designed our system to be easy to install using facility personnel or a local contractor. No heavy equipment is required for off-loading, assembly, or installation.
  11. What type of faceplates are used to cover the niche opening? Everest has an assortment of different granite faceplates to choose from.  These faceplates are cut and drilled to our exact specifications and can be engraved.  The faceplates are attached with tamper resistant fasteners.
